THE PROPOSAL

What are they asking to change or build?

200 MWMaximum battery power
Up to 1,200 MWhUp to six hours storage
Goorambat379 Goorambat-Chesney Road
PA2604509Planning application
Why this page exists: The advertised application proposes an LFP battery energy storage system of up to 200 MW and up to six hours duration, co-located with the Goorambat East Solar Farm. Cross-checking the Planning Report against the technical appendices identifies several matters that remain dependent on indicative equipment, assumptions, future detailed design or further assessment. The questions below are drawn from the applicant’s own advertised material and are framed as matters for scrutiny rather than claims that an adverse outcome will occur.

READ BEFORE YOU SUBMIT

12 issues worth looking at closely

Open any card for the detail and source material, or add a genuine concern straight to your submission.

The Fire Risk Management Plan says the battery manufacturer/model has not yet been decided. Elsewhere it refers to UL9540A and large-scale fire testing informing separation distances. Ask the responsible authority to identify exactly which tested system underpins the current fire conclusions and require the final selected equipment to be demonstrated as equivalent or reassessed before construction.

Look at: Fire Risk Management Plan / Fire Safety Study, especially battery fire safety and separation-distance sections

LOCAL OBSERVATION & EVIDENCE

What have you actually seen or experienced?

Local evidence can be useful when it is described accurately. Photographs, dates, road conditions, waterlogging, noise experience, farming information and other first-hand observations can help explain why an issue matters to you.

Photos & observations

Upload photographs or documents with your submission. State where and when a photo was taken and what it shows. Do not present a nearby observation as proof of conditions inside the project site unless the evidence supports that conclusion.

πŸ”Ž

Compare it with the reports

Where your own experience appears different from an application report, identify the difference and ask the decision-maker to reconcile it. That is stronger and more accurate than overstating what an observation proves.

A useful submission question: What does the application material say about this issue, what assumptions does it rely on, and does my local evidence raise a matter that should be checked before a decision is made?

You can ask for clarification, further information or assessment of matters you consider unresolved.

Comment on conditions

You can identify matters you believe should be addressed through design, monitoring, management or permit conditions.

State the outcome you seek

You can explain whether you seek changes, deferral or refusal and give the planning reasons for your view.
